The READING RECREATION COMMISSION is currently accepting applications for the full- and part-time positions described below:

2022 SUMMER SEASONAL RECREATION POSITIONS
Maintenance worker (description below), Schlegel Pool lifeguards, Playground Leaders/Community Assistants (description below), Snack Bar Workers and and Front Desk Cashiers.  Must be friendly and reliable with a highly developed sense of responsibility.  Bilingual abilities are a plus.  Playground Leaders must be high school graduates; applicants with at least one year of completed college preferred.

SUMMER MAINTENANCE WORKER
FT – M-F  8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.* (hours/days may vary as needed)
$12.00/hour
April – August 2022
Performs laborer and some semi-skilled manual tasks in the Parks/Recreation Department for the Reading Recreation Commission.  This position involves routine landscaping and grass cutting, Janitorial cleaning in various Park facilities, routine inventory of miscellaneous items and minor repairs as needed.  Employees in this position may be assigned varied, routine maintenance tasks as needed.  Must be at least 18 years of age; possession of valid Pennsylvania's driver's license required; custodian or maintenance experience at the level of laborer or above; education equivalent to a high school diploma or equivalent combination of experience, training, and education, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, climb, and reach.

PLAYGROUND LEADERS/COMMUNITY ASSISTANTS - Summer Playground Leader Job Description
Non-exempt/Hourly | M-F (days and hours below)
Monday – Friday | 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
June- August | Competitive hourly rate

The Reading Recreation Commission is an E/O/E.

The above positions are classified as Mandated Reporters. A mandated reporter is a person who, because of his or her profession or position, is legally required to report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the relevant authorities. These laws are in place to prevent children from being abused and to end any possible abuse or neglect at the earliest possible stage. Any reports of suspected child abuse, after being reported to authorities, are to be communicated immediately to the Recreation Supervisor.  Mandated reporter training for this position is required before beginning employment with the Reading Recreation Commission.
